Victory in Europe (VE) Day on May 8th, 1945 marked the end of World War II in Europe after Germany's unconditional surrender to the Allied forces. This momentous occasion triggered widespread celebrations across Allied nations, symbolizing the end of nearly six years of conflict and the beginning of a new era. To see many more pictures, go to "VE Celebrations in Pictures." Revelry in Trafalgar Square, and other London landmarks. Revellers in front of Buckingham Palace chanting "We want the King" until the royal family came out on the balcony. Dancing in the streets. Celebrating in pubs.
