DBE members who knew Anne remember her elegant ways, her energy and love of life.
Born in Glasgow, growing up in London, she went to the Aida Foster Theatrical School, excelling in dance and drama. She later appeared on stage in several English pantomime performances, then joined musical and dance productions performing in Denmark, France, and Italy in the 1960s, later she appeared in movies in England and working and modeling in London fashions.
Married in October 1976 to John McKenrick, a Navy oceanographer. In 1978 John was reassigned to the US, where Anne joyfully joined in the activities and made many friends while being a member of the New Orleans Godolphin Chapter of Daughters of the British Empire (DBE). When John retired in 1986 to West Palm Beach, Anne resumed her membership with a local chapter of the DBE, making even more lifelong friendships. She loved the DBE, worked enthusiastically for its causes, and was tireless in her work for seniors, and her gardens of flowers. she also shared stories of her incredible life with us — one example is from when she had a bit part in the 1968 version of “Oliver” helping Ron Moody, who played Fagin, with his beard attachments.
In her memory, and supporting her love of the DBE and our Cause, her husband John’s latest donation to Florida DBE in her name has gone to our main charity, LuvExtension, in her name.
